Although it received little media attention, the Florida Attorney General’s Office and local law enforcement agencies have been obtaining orders to seize cryptocurrency for forfeiture proceedings.
Seizure from Binance accounts are particularly common because they authorities in Florida have found that Binance cooperates with nearly any seizure order, regardless of how weak the merits of the case. As a result, innocent purchasers for value might see their entire account seized, even though only a tiny amount can allegedly be “traced” to some crime committed in Florida.
