Originally from New Jersey, Katherine Aranda moved to Tampa, FL, to attend the University of Tampa. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature, she earned her law degree from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, FL.
While attending law school, Katherine competed on the nationally ranked Trial Team, worked with the Innocence Project on prosecutorial misconduct cases, and completed a semester of clinical work with the Public Defender’s Office in Clearwater. She also spent a summer studying abroad in Tokyo, Japan, to immerse herself in a new culture and legal system where she worked for a law firm practicing in maritime law.
After law school, Katherine served as an Assistant Public Defender for the 6th Judicial Circuit in Clearwater, FL. She gained extensive jury trial experience by defending clients charged with various criminal offenses ranging from misdemeanor traffic violations, DUI, and petit theft to serious felony offenses for aggravated battery, firearm offenses, and drug trafficking.
Katherine also worked in the Juvenile Department of the Public Defender’s Office, representing children of all ages being charged with misdemeanor and felony criminal offenses.
After joining Sammis Law Firm in 2021, she has continued to focus exclusively on criminal defense. She works out of the office in Clearwater, FL.
In her spare time, Katherine enjoys taking her puppy to the park, reading a good book, cooking, and going to the movie theater.
