Pinellas County Jail

Commanded by Colonel Paul Carey, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Department of Detention and Corrections is comprised of several major components, including:

Pinellas County has one jail. The jail is located on 54 acres of land in Clearwater, FL. The jail is on 49th Street, between Roosevelt Boulevard and Ulmerton Road. The Criminal Justice Center (CJC) courthouse is right in front of the main entrance to the jail. The address to the jail is 14400 49th St N, Clearwater, FL 33762. With more than 3,000 people being housed at the jail daily, the Pinellas County Jail is the 28th largest jail in the United States. Inmates include people accused of a crime being held on a pre-trial basis and those sentenced to jail time by the court. The jail is nationally accredited by Detention and Inmate Healthcare professional associations.

Video Visitation at the Pinellas County Jail

The Video Visitation Center is in the Pinellas County Jail Administration Support Building at 14500 49th Street North. The visits are scheduled with a reservation up to two weeks in advance. You can schedule the visits online. Unfortunately, same-day visits are not available. Next-day visits can be scheduled before midnight. For help setting up the visitation, call the jail at 727-464-6842 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

To make an appointment, you must be at least 18 years old and show a valid ID. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The jail enforces a dress code, and obscene, offensive, distracting, or disruptive clothing is prohibited. The visits are scheduled for 40 minutes. Attorneys and other professional visitors can visit the person in visitation rooms near the front of the jai or visitation rooms set up near the inmate’s unit upstairs. Attorneys can also schedule confidential video visitations.

Who’s In the Pinellas County Jail – Visit the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office website to search for a person booked into the Pinellas County Jail. The search feature provides information about incarcerated persons or those released from jail within the last 30 days. Use the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Records Request Portal to request information about anyone released from jail more than 30 days ago. Upon request, the Pinellas Clerk of the Circuit Court can provide a copy of the judgment and sentence, which shows how the inmate’s case was resolved. A more complete statewide criminal history information report must be obtained from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). Search by name, alias, docket #, booking date, or release date. The results can be filtered by the arresting agency, the criminal charge, or the arrest type.
