Located within CJC are the Jury Assembly section and Clerk’s Department. The Courthouse Annex building houses the Family Court and Judicial Administration.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office manages security at the courthouse. PCSO deputies are stationed at the front doors and in each courtroom. At the front door’s security checkpoint, deputies will search purses, backpacks, briefcases, and other belongings.

Construction on the courthouse began in 1982. A significant court addition was added in 1996. Beginning in 2021, the renovation added 5,000 gross square feet of main entrance addition and a secure lobby.

According to Mason Blau and Associates, Inc., the County Justice Center (CJC) Courthouse and attached Annex Building involved a $69,000,000.00 design criteria package. Dewberry Architects was the Associate Architectural firm participating in the project with Mason Blau and Associates, Inc.

The total floor area of the complex includes more than 533,000 gross square feet. The planned renovations of the new Courthouse Annex expanded the space to 79,000 gross square feet.
