Arrest by Plant City Police Department
Founded in 1885, the Plant City Police Department (PCPD) is a full-service law enforcement agency with a staff of approximately 74 sworn law enforcement officers and approximately 22 additional personnel. The mission statement of the Plant City Police Department is:
“In partnership with the community, and while affording dignity and respect to all persons, our mission is to maintain order, improve the quality of life of our citizens, and develop our members to their greatest potential.”
The officers on the unit have received advanced training as Traffic Homicide Investigators for topics ranging from at-scene investigation to traffic crash reconstruction.
Officers on the traffic management unit perform traffic stops for criminal investigations, safety violations, equipment and registration violations, and moving violations such as reckless driving, weaving between lanes, and speeding.
Misdemeanor arrests in the eastern part of Hillsborough County, including in Plant City, Bloomingdale, Seffner, Sun City Center, or Fish Hawk, are prosecuted at the Plant City Courthouse. Two County Court Judges in Plant City handle misdemeanor and DUI cases including:
- In Division P, DUI and other misdemeanor cases are resolved by the Honorable Monique M. Scott, a County Court Judge at the Plant City Courthouse in Courtroom 1.
- In Division X, DUI and other misdemeanor cases are resolved by the Honorable Richard A. Weis, a County Court Judge at the Plant City Courthouse in Courtroom 3.

DUI Investigations by the Plant City Police Department
The Plant City Police Department does not have a separate DUI enforcement unit, but many of the sworn law enforcement officers have received advanced training in conducting DUI investigations. Some of the officers have little or no training on DUI enforcement other than the training they received in the police academy.
Officers with the PCPD sometimes work in conjunction with officers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) or the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
