Idalis Vento
Born and raised in South Florida, Idalis M. Vento received her Bachelor of Arts in History at Stetson University and her Juris Doctorate degree from New England Law in Boston. While in law school, Idalis completed internships at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office in the Environmental Crimes Section and the Committee for Public Counsel Services, working on public defense cases in Quincy, MA.
Idalis has focused her legal career on criminal law. After passing the Uniform Bar Exam, Idalis practiced as an Assistant Public Defender at the Office of the Public Defender in Montgomery County, Maryland. Upon moving back to Florida, Idalis passed the Florida bar and briefly worked at a private criminal defense firm working on White Collar Crime and complex civil litigation cases.
Wanting to learn both sides of the law, Idalis worked as an Assistant State Attorney at the 13th Judicial Circuit before joining Sammis Law Firm. She uses the knowledge and skills learned as a PD and an ASA to benefit her clients and their cases. Idalis is a native Spanish speaker.
Idalis is very involved in the local community as a member of various bar associations. She was chosen to be a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association Bar Leadership Institute for 2022-2023, where she met with local community leaders and organizations, including the Port of Tampa Bay, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mary Lee’s House, and Tampa Police Department and Fire Rescue, to name a few.
As part of the Young Lawyer’s Division, Idalis is a member of the Member Services committee, which helps plan various events, including the annual Puppies and Prosecco event hosted at Armature Works, which directly benefits the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Idalis recently volunteered at the Tampa Hispanic Bar Association Legal and Informational Fair for the Tampa community providing pro bono services.
